FAQs — Hiring an Independent Educational Consultant (IEC)
What is an IEC?+
An Independent Educational Consultant helps students and families with academic planning, college list building, applications, essays, and (when relevant) financial-aid strategy. Unlike a school counselor, an IEC works with a small caseload and can give more individualized time.
Who is The King’s Way for?+
Students and parents who want structured guidance on college and career decisions—especially families who feel overwhelmed by timelines, testing, applications, or how to afford school. Current 1:1 packages focus on high school (9th–12th); younger students are often a better fit for workshops or short classes.
How is this different from my school counselor?+
School counselors support many students and cover graduation requirements, social-emotional needs, and college basics. An IEC like The King’s Way adds deeper one-to-one planning: course choices, testing strategy, college fit, essays, and how aid/cost fit the family’s picture.
Do you guarantee admission to a specific college?+
No. No ethical consultant can guarantee admission. The work is to strengthen the student’s profile, clarify fit, and put forward strong, honest applications.
How do fees usually work?+
The King’s Way uses annual 1:1 packages by grade (rates shared on request). Workshops and short classes may be offered separately. Ask for a consult if you want to know whether a package or a workshop is the better first step.
When should we start?+
Earlier planning (9th–10th) reduces last-minute stress. Juniors and seniors can still get high-value help on testing, lists, essays, and aid—timeline just gets tighter.
